- Was considered to be a sub-species of the Red-lored Amazon but was recently classified as a separate species.
- About 13.5" long, Average weight about 500 grams
- Intense red feathers above cere and forehead. 
- Range: North-western Brazil in the state of Amazonas
- Lowland forests and and plantation areas with scattered trees.
- Eats mostly fruits and nuts
- Endangered due to habitat destruction and projected continued destruction.
