Swansons Lorikeet

SWAINSON'S LORIKEET
Trichoglossus haematodus moluccanus

» Also called the Blue Mountain Lorikeet and Rainbow Lorikeet
» About 12" in length and and 130 grams
» Endemic to eastern and southeastern Australia
» Common in aviculture because it has been bred for so long in captivity.
» A popular companion lorikeet that can be affectionate and very playful
» Considered to be
stable in its natural range and has been introduced to western Australia where some consider it to be a pest.

These birds do well on a quality powdered Lory mix with some nectar and lots of fresh low-iron fruits and veggies.
