» From the Mollucan islands in Indonesia and throughout most of New Guinea
» Sexually dimorphic with the male having red on its head and sides
» Rare in aviculture and as a companion
» In captivity, they can be extremely playful
» They have not adapted well to being caged or cold temperatures
» They are mostly nectar eaters with pollen and ripe fruit in their diets. They don't do well on dry powder. 
» Considered to be 
stable in its range
