Lorius domicellus

» Also known as the Purple-naped Lory
» About 11" in length, weight about 150 grams
» Endemic to Ceram, Amboina and possibly a few other nearby islands in the Moluccas archipelago
» Because of their low wild numbers, these Lories are unusual and treasured in aviculture
» They are considered to be excellent companions if they are ever available.
» 
Endangered due to capture for the pet trade and destruction of its habitat. Extirpated from Amboina.
» Captive birds will eat the dry powder with fruits, some veggies and nectar.
