FAMILY PSITTACIDAE

GENUS CONURUS KUHL

Conurus carolinensis (Linn). Carolina Paroquet. Formerly a common resident in eastern and southern Kansas; but as the settlements increased along the streams, rapidly diminished, and I think have not been met with in the State for several years. In the spring of 1858 a small flock reared their young in a large hollow limp of a giant sycamore tree, on the banks of the Neosho river, near Neosho Falls. I have never been able to procure their eggs; are said to be two or three; greenish white.
